Building Valley Macedonia

What is Building Valley Macedonia (BVM)?

Building Valley Macedonia is a joint ministry of Macedonia Christian Church, an African-American congregation, and Valley Christian Church, a Euro-American congregation.

Since our organization in 1993 we have worshipped together on special occasions such as Maundy Thursday, Easter morning service and Race Relations Sunday, studied together in workshops, and shared our Birmingham history together in tours of the Civil Rights Institute and reflections of our past. Currently we are planning a service project at the Ronald McDonald house at Children’s Hospital and visit residents at the Jefferson County Rehab facility in Birmingham this summer.

Our ongoing goal is to reach out to the community interracially through activities such as roadside clean-ups, Ronald McDonald House clean-ups, book wraps to raise money for outreach causes, and caroling at a local hospital at Christmas time. We continue to seek outreach ministries to support.

We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Through a variety of fellowship activities we have discovered what the different races and cultures have in common and have developed a love for each other and a deeper love for God. Popular fellowship events are shared meals at the churches or at local restaurants, seasonal picnics, and quilting parties.
